Vintage Turkish Kilim - 6'2" x 9'7"

Expertly crafted in the Oushak region of Turkey, this Vintage Turkish Kilim is woven with wool on a wool foundation. Kilims and Flat Weaves are unique in that they do not have a pile, instead, they are carefully woven by interweaving the warp and weft strands to create a smooth, flat surface. This specific weaving technique produces striking geometric patterns and designs, often seen on kilims woven on a horizontal loom. Not only are these rugs known for their crisp designs, but they are also lighter in weight and softer to the touch compared to traditional piled rugs. Because of this, they were often used as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, table covers, wall hangings, and even as insulation from extreme cold temperatures.
